At Joy, we believe strength training can be transformative for young girls — not just physically, but mentally too.

Our Strong Girls programme is designed specifically for girls from year 3 up, creating a supportive, empowering environment where they can learn to move well, build strength, and grow in confidence.

At a time when many girls begin to lose confidence in sport and physical activity, Strong Girls is here to change that.

The main Strong Girls intake begins each Autumn term, however drop-in sessions are available throughout the Summer term. We’ll also be announcing details of our Strong Girls Summer Camps very soon.

Membership & Pricing.

Strong Girls memberships run continuously throughout the year, with sessions following local school term dates (approximately 39 weeks per academic year).

Rather than paying separately each term, membership fees are spread evenly across 12 monthly payments to make budgeting simpler for families and to secure your child’s place in their weekly class year-round.

An Annual Strong Girls Membership is payable upon joining and each September thereafter. This includes:

  • Strong Girls training journal

  • Welcome pack

  • Rewards, badges & milestone items

  • Ongoing programme resources

Memberships include:

  • Weekly coached sessions during term time

  • Progressive strength training and coaching

  • Ongoing tracking and development

  • Priority access to workshops and events

  • Membership of the Strong Girls community

Registration for September is now open. To secure your child’s place, please complete the registration form and purchase the Annual Strong Girls Membership. Monthly memberships will begin from 1st September 2026.

Summer Term.

  • Our summer term runs from 20th April to 17th July, with a break for half term (week commencing 25th May). That’s a total of 12 weekly classes.

    Monthly Memberships:

    Years 3–6: £52 per month

  • Strong Girls is a small group strength training class focused on teaching the fundamentals of movement in a safe, structured and fun way.

    Each session is led by a qualified coach and designed to help girls:

    • Build strength safely and effectively

    • Learn proper technique across key movement patterns

    • Improve coordination, balance and overall physical literacy

    • Develop confidence in their bodies and what they can do

    • Feel comfortable in a gym environment

    We focus on progress over perfection, helping each girl feel successful at her own pace.

  • We see it time and time again — as girls get older, many start to:

    • Drop out of sport

    • Lose confidence in their abilities

    • Become more self-conscious about their bodies

    • Feel unsure in gym or exercise environments

    Strong Girls is here to change that.

    Our goal is to give girls the tools, knowledge and confidence to feel strong — physically and mentally — and to carry that with them for life.

  • Each session focuses on building strong foundations through:

    • Learning key movement patterns (squat, hinge, push, pull)

    • Developing strength in a safe, age-appropriate way

    • Improving coordination, balance and control

    • Understanding how to use gym equipment confidently

    • Working both independently and as part of a group

    We place a big emphasis on good technique, consistency and enjoyment— not perfection.

  • Strength training offers huge benefits for young people, especially girls.

    It can help to:

    • Improve bone health and support growing bodies

    • Reduce risk of injury in sport and daily life

    • Build resilience and a positive mindset

    • Increase confidence and body awareness

    • Create lifelong healthy habits around exercise

    Our aim is simple: to help girls feel strong, capable and empowered — inside and out.

  • We know that trying something new — especially in a gym environment — can feel daunting for both children and parents.

    At Joy, we prioritise creating a space that is:

    • Safe and well supervised by qualified coaches with Enhanced DBS checks

    • Focused on long-term development, not intensity or pressure

    • Welcoming and inclusive for all ability levels

    • Designed to build confidence, not comparison

    Strength training for young people, when coached properly, is safe, highly beneficial, and can play an important role in supporting both physical and emotional development.

    If your daughter is nervous, that’s completely normal — we’ll meet her where she’s at and help her settle in.

  • All memberships have an initial 3-month minimum commitment period and continue on a rolling monthly basis thereafter. Places are limited and retained automatically unless cancelled. Fees are taken on the first of every month. If you wish to leave we just ask for 4 weeks written notice.
