Meet the Team.
At Joy, we believe that who coaches you matters.
We're passionate about helping women discover just how strong they're capable of becoming, in an environment that's welcoming, supportive and free from judgement. Whether you're picking up a barbell for the first time or working towards your next personal best, we're here to guide you every step of the way.
Every coach at Joy shares the same philosophy: evidence-based coaching, encouragement over intimidation, and a genuine belief that strength training can transform lives.
Jen Oldmeadow
FounderFor years, exercise felt tied to one goal: being thinner. After becoming a mum, I made a conscious decision to change that. Instead of punishing my body, I wanted to support it — to feel strong, capable and healthy, and to build something that would last.
That shift led me to retrain as a Personal Trainer and specialise in women's strength training. Over the years, I've worked with women at all stages of life, helping them build not just strength, but confidence, resilience and a more positive relationship with their bodies.
I created Joy to offer that same experience — a welcoming, supportive space where women can focus on progress over perfection and feel confident in what their bodies can do.
For me, joy comes from getting stronger — and from the connection and community that comes from training alongside other women. I wanted to create a place where women could celebrate each other's successes, feel supported through life's challenges and discover that they're capable of far more than they ever imagined.
Nothing makes me happier than watching someone achieve something they never thought possible—whether that's their first push-up, their first deadlift, or simply walking into the studio feeling more confident than they did a few months ago.

She believes that exercise should feel enjoyable, empowering and sustainable—not something to be feared or endured. Her calm, friendly coaching style helps members feel comfortable from the moment they walk through the door, whatever their experience level.
Whether she's celebrating a new PB or helping someone master their first squat, Izzy is passionate about making every member feel supported and successful.
More Than a Gym
Joy was built to be more than somewhere you come to exercise.
It's a place where women encourage one another, celebrate each other's achievements and discover that getting stronger changes far more than just your muscles.
We believe that strength is one of the greatest investments you can make in your future, and we're incredibly proud to help women of all ages build healthier, happier, stronger lives.
