  • Coaching-led training

Every session is coached. You’ll receive guidance on technique, weight selection and progressions so you can train safely and effectively.

    Small groups

Our Small Group Personal Training sessions are deliberately limited in size so that coaching can remain personal and supportive.

    Structured programming

Our training follows a progressive strength programme built around the four key movement patterns — hinge, squat, push and pull — helping you build strength consistently over time.

    A women-focused space

Joy has been designed specifically for women, with an emphasis on strength, confidence and long-term health.

    A supportive community

We believe strength training should feel encouraging and empowering. Joy is a place where women support each other and celebrate progress together.

  • Joy Strength Studio is designed for women who want to build strength in a supportive, welcoming environment — without the intimidation of a traditional gym.

Joy may be the right place for you if you:

    • Want to get stronger
    • Prefer structured training and coaching rather than figuring things out alone
    • Want to train in a women-only environment
    • Value small groups and personal attention rather than large classes
    • Are looking for long-term strength, health and confidence — not quick fixes
    • Want exercise to feel supportive, empowering and enjoyable

You do not need to be fit, experienced or confident with weights before joining. That’s exactly what we’re here to help you build.

  • Joy Strength Studio is designed to be a welcoming and comfortable space for women.

    Facilities include:

    • Changing facilities and shower
    • Toilets
    • Complimentary tea and coffee
    • An outdoor decking area

We aim to create a calm, supportive environment where you can focus on your training and take a moment for yourself.

  • Not at all. Joy is designed to be a welcoming space for women at all stages of their strength journey.

Every exercise can be scaled and our coaches will guide you through technique, weights and progressions so you feel supported from your very first session.

  • Yes. We offer 1-to-1 personal training for women who would prefer a fully individualised approach.

Personal training can be particularly helpful if you:

    • Are new to strength training and would like extra guidance
    • Have specific goals you want to work towards
    • Are returning to exercise after injury or pregnancy
    • Prefer a more personalised coaching experience

Sessions are tailored to your goals, experience and training history, with a focus on building safe, progressive strength over time.

  • We believe it takes more than one session to properly experience the benefits of structured strength training, so our 2 week unlimited trial allows you to attend several sessions and get a real feel for the programme.

    Why start with a trial?

    • Experience our full timetable

    • Learn our programming and movement patterns

    • Build confidence in a supportive, coached environment

    • See how your body responds to consistent training

    What happens after?

At the end of your trial, you’ll have a clear understanding of how we train — and which membership is right for you.

If you decide to join, we’ll help you choose the option that best supports your goals and routine.

  • Memberships at Joy Strength Studio are subject to a minimum initial commitment of three months from the start date of the membership.

After the initial three-month period, memberships will continue on a rolling monthly basis and may be cancelled by providing 1 month’s written notice prior to the next billing date.

All memberships are risk-free. If you decide within your first two weeks that Joy isn’t the right fit, you can cancel and receive a full refund.

  • Members may request to freeze their membership for up to two weeks per calendar year.

Freeze requests must be submitted at least 7 days in advance and must be taken in full-week blocks.

Membership freezes cannot be applied retrospectively.

During a freeze period, the member’s billing date will be extended by the length of the freeze.

Additional freeze periods may be granted at the discretion of Joy Strength Studio in cases of injury, illness or pregnancy.

  • All sessions are booked through our online booking system, Momence. Once you become a member, you’ll be able to reserve your sessions through the app or website.

  • Members can book sessions up to two weeks in advance, helping you plan your training around your schedule.

  • SGPT sessions and classes can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 6 hours before the session.

1-to-1 personal training and crèche sessions require 24 hours' notice.

Late cancellations will result in the session being forfeited so that spaces remain available for other members. If you cancel late three times within a month, you will receive a £10 fine.

  • SGPT combines the structure and coaching of personal training with the motivation of a small group.

Sessions are limited to six members so that coaching can be personalised. Each session follows a structured programme designed to help you build strength progressively over time.

  • That’s absolutely fine.

Our SGPT programme rotates through four key movement patterns — hinge, squat, push and pull — across the month. This means even if you attend on the same day each week, you’ll still experience the full programme over time.

  • Your first session is designed to help you settle in, learn the space and feel comfortable with the training style.

    Your coach will:

    • Welcome you and introduce you to the studio
    • Talk you through the structure of the session
    • Demonstrate and coach the exercises
    • Help you choose appropriate weights
    • Support you with technique and progressions

There’s no expectation to know anything beforehand — we’ll guide you through everything step by step.

The aim of the first session is simply to help you feel confident, supported and ready to continue building strength.

  • Just bring yourself and a water bottle.

All equipment needed for your session is provided. If you prefer to use your own lifting gloves, belt or other accessories you’re welcome to bring them, but they’re not required.

  • Not at all. The programme is designed for beginners and focuses on learning the fundamentals of strength training in a safe and supportive way.

  • Sessions focus on developing:

    • Strength and coordination
    • Athletic skills like jumping, landing and sprinting
    • Confidence in movement
    • A positive relationship with exercise

We use age-appropriate strength training, bodyweight exercises and light equipment.

  • Yes. When properly coached, strength training is considered safe and beneficial for young people.

Sessions focus on good technique, appropriate loads and gradual progression, with a strong emphasis on movement quality.

  • Parents are welcome to wait nearby or drop off and return at the end of the session, depending on their child’s age and confidence.

  • Strong Mums is our postnatal strength training programme designed to help women rebuild strength and confidence after pregnancy and birth.

The focus is on helping you safely return to strength training while supporting your body through the postnatal recovery process.

    Sessions typically include:

    • Core and pelvic floor–aware strength training
    • Progressive resistance training
    • Coaching and guidance specific to postnatal bodies
    • A supportive environment with other mums

The goal is to help you feel strong, capable and confident in your body again.

  • Most women can begin postnatal strength training once they have been medically cleared for exercise, usually at the 6–8 week postnatal check.

However, every postnatal journey is different. If you're unsure whether you're ready to start, we’re happy to discuss your situation and help guide you to the right option.

  • Absolutely. Many women join months or even years after having children.

If you feel your core strength, confidence or overall strength never fully returned after pregnancy, the programme can still be extremely beneficial.

  • The crèche is available for children aged 0–5 years whose parents or guardians are attending a session at Joy Strength Studio.

Spaces are limited to ensure a calm and safe environment for all children.

  • Crèche spaces must be booked in advance alongside a training session and are subject to availability.

To allow appropriate staffing arrangements, crèche bookings must be made no later than 12:00pm on the Sunday prior to the week of the session. After this time, crèche spaces may not be available. Crèche bookings may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

Cancellations made after this time will result in the crèche session being forfeited.

Crèche spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Joy Strength Studio reserves the right to cancel a crèche session where minimum attendance numbers are not met, in which case affected members will be notified as soon as possible and the booking will be returned to their account.

  • Parents must remain on the premises at all times while their child is attending the crèche.

If your child needs you during the session, a member of staff will contact you.

  • Please bring anything your child may need during the session, such as:

    • nappies and wipes

    • bottles or snacks (if required)

    • a comfort item

All items should be clearly labelled.
